“Mathematical literacy is essential to the current and future success of M.S.A.D. No. 75 students.”
It is the District's goal that all students will be mathematically literate. Students who are mathematically literate will like math, be confident learners of math, be able to look at and use data, have a facility with math computation, use different branches of math to solve a problem, explain math concepts orally and in writing, have number sense, know how the math they use relates to the real world, have the knowledge that supports math reasoning, model math concepts, be creative and flexible problem solvers, make connections inside and outside math, work together to solve math problems and be able to apply the rule of four to math concepts;
- Explain math concepts verbally or written, using non-technical language
- Numerically, using discrete illustrative values
- Graphically, using a representational drawing or graph
- Symbolically, using mathematical notation.
